Contrary to speculations making the round that the Imo state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ has appointed a new Coordinator for the International Institute of Jouranalism, IIJ , Owerri study center to take over from late Dr Ndudi Nnadi who will be led to rest on July, 28, 2022,the Union has distanced itself from such mischievous speculation, insisting that it has not met to discuss anything about the appointment of a new Coordinator for the foremost Journalism Training Institution.
Addressing old students of the school who paid him a courtesy visit at the Port Harcourt Road secretariat of Imo NUJ, recently, Comrade Precious Nwadike, the Caretaker committee chairman of Imo NUJ denied appointing anyone to head the office, adding that the Union is deeply pained by the demise of Dr Ndudi Nnadi who served the Union meritoriously in various capacities and would not be callous to disrespect upon his death.
The caretaker committee chairman of the Union, disclosed that the Union will appoint a new Coordinator after Nnadi’s burial and his due respect accorded him in line with the culture of the Union.
According to Nwadike, the union shall consult relevant stakeholders before announcing a replacement for late Nnadi.”We don’t sit at home and appoint people into office. Our resolutions are taken at Congress. That is why I can authoritatively tell you that no such appointment has been made”, Nwadike stated.
He advised intending students of the institute to be patient as efforts are being made to return IIJ to it’s original place. If that is done, the school will advertise for new intake”.
Recall that that some criminally minded fellows attempted sell Imo NUJ secretariat located along Port Harcourt Road before they were stopped.
