· Trains 100 staff on digital literacy skills
Kingsley Ozumba University, Ideato that was positively in the news recently, as the National University Commission granted one hundred percent accreditation status to most of its programs has achieved another milestone, as the country’s apex regulatory body for communication related activities, National Communication Commission has donated 100 pieces of e-pads and associated accessories to the institution.
This was contained in a letter dated December 14, 2021, signed by Prof Umar Danbatta, Executive Chairman/C.E.O, of National Communication Commission.
Prof Umar Danbatta, in the letter with reference number: NCC/PD/SIP/OA/09/21/028 said, “the donation was made under the Commission’s Digital Economy/Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI) aimed at improving the digital skills of staff and students of the institution to contribute their quota in the emerging Nigerian digital economy.”
In a related Development, the Digital Bridge Institute (BDI), a subsidiary of National Communication Commission has trained 100 staff of the K.O Mbadiwe University on basic ICT Office productivity tools, including the intranet, internet, use of e-teaching and e-learning facilities etc. The 5-day training commenced on Tuesday May 10, 2022.
It is notable that the University in discharge of her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the host communities included 20 graduate participants drawn from the five (5) host communities of Ogboko, Umuchima, Obioha, Umuesi and Oguma to benefit from the training. This training was aimed at improving ICT skills of staff thus enabling them to translate the acquired knowledge and skills into improved teaching and work performance.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor I.N.S. Dozie had on behalf of the Governor of Imo State and Visitor to the University His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, Senate, Staff and Students of the institution expressed deep appreciation to NCC and DBI for their kind gestures to the young institution. He has also appealed to Imo citizens and other Nigerians to support the efforts of government through various donations aimed improving the instructional and physical facilities in the institution.
