-VC Appreciates Uzodinma, Staff for massive support
National University Commission (NUC) has granted full and interim accreditation to virtually all the academic programs run by Kingsley Ozumba University (KOMU) Ogboko in Ideato South local government area of Imo state.
This was contained in a letter dated 14th April, 2022 signed by the Commissioner’s Director of Accreditation, Dr Maryam Sali and addressed to the Vice Chancellor of KOMU, Prof INS Dozie.
The letter captioned, “Results of the October/November, 2021 Accreditation of Academic Programmes in Nigerian Universities”, reads, “The National Universities Commission (NUC) has the statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in all Nigerian Universities.
“Pursuant to this mandate and in consonance with the provisions of the current government approved guidelines initial accreditation of a new programme is held after the programme has run for two academic sessions following approval for the establishment of the programme. Thereafter, the Commission accredits the approved programmes as and when due. Consequently, the NUC organized the accreditation of academic programmes Kingsley Ozumba University, Oweri in October /November, 2021.

You are requested to please note the implications of the accreditation status earned by academic programmes of Nigeria Universities:
Implication for Undergraduate programmes
a) Full accreditation status is valid for a period of five years;
b) Interim accreditation status is valid for two years after which the programmes will be revisited. Programmes that earn Interim status after two visits shall revert to DENIED accreditation status;
c) Denied accreditation status has the following implications:
i. Immediate ban on student admission into such programmes;
ii. Certificates issued to students admitted into such programmes after the ban on admission, will not be recognized (Students who are currently enrolled on the programme will not be affected); and
iii. Such students admitted into programmes with Denied accreditation status alter the ban, shall on graduation be denied call-up into the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

Speaking with this reporter on phone yesterday, Prof Dozie expressed happiness over the development.He commended governor Hope Uzodinma for his support which has led to the huge success recorded in the accreditation.He also thanked staff of the Institution for always standing by the management.
