– Hire SAN to stop Okorocha’s proxy
The report that the dissident chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council, Chris Akaraonye, his predecessor, Innocent Igwe and their cohorts, had, with the assistance of the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Christ Isiguzo fraudulently leased the Imo NUJ Secretariat to the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, for 90 years, which many thought existed in the realm of speculative fallacy manifested in real life yesterday as alleged Okorocha’s proxy Enedo General Service Ltd and their cohorts stormed the secretariat to take possession of the magnificent edifice which they had earlier vandalized as a prelude to their recent ill-fated takeover bid.
The desperadoes, armed with a court judgment they secured on November 11, 2021 without serving the Precious Nwadike led caretaker committee of Imo NUJ necessary court processes stormed the Port Harcourt road secretariat of Imo NUJ with heavily armed police men by 10am on yesterday ostensibly, to bulldoze the place not knowing that Imo journalists mobilized by their caretaker committee Chairman,Precious Nwadike and other members of his exco were already on ground to scuttle their effort and promptly get in touch with their lawyer,Prof F.C Dike SAN.
Imo NUJ court process pasted on entrance of complex
Thereafter, the Nwadike-led Caretaker Committee, with the assistance of their lawyer, Prof F.C Dike SAN, a former Imo state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice filed a motion for stay of execution dated April 7, 2022 at an Owerri High Court which will be heard on May 25, 2022.The motion seeks to set aside the judgment for abuse of court process.
Recall, that Chris Akaraonye, Innocent Igwe and the Abia state born Chris Isiguzo had in their desperate attempt to lease the secretariat out even when there was a subsisting Suit bordering on leadership tussle at the Industrial Court, Owerri which is why the Union constituted a caretaker committee to hold sway pending the determination of the suit in court. They vandalized the secretariat, carted away valuables and issued quit notices to occupants of the secretariat including the International Institute of Journalism,Abuja (Owerri Study Centre) which is the only professional journalism school in the entire South East.
It was gathered from a reliable source that, “it was when they were frustrated in their initial bid to fraudulently lease out the secretariat that they initiated the court processes that culminated in the judgment they secured on November, 11, 2022. They kept it secret until Wednesday when they pasted it on the wall of the secretariat to enable them achieve their nefarious ulterior motive against the collective interest of Imo journalists.”
“it is alleged that former former governor Rochas Okorocha had paid the sum of N20m to Akaraonye, Innocent Igwe, Chris Isiguzo and their cohorts through this proxy for the secretariat and promised to pay the balance N70m when the company takes over, hence their concerted effort to facilitate the takeover.
This is said to be one of the reasons the IIJ was relocated while Isiguzo is said to be doing everything possible to ensure that the school is not returned to its former site at the Port Harcourt road secretariat of Imo NUJ.
