The former governor of Imo state, now Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has decried the high level of killings taking place in Imo State in recent times as a result of insecurity.
According to Okorocha “for any governor to come to Imo State he must come with armoured car, am not happy with what is happening in my state
“This is not the Imo State we knew, these killings must stop. This was the situation met on ground in 2011 when I came in as governor and did my best to bring it to a halt”
The former governor disclosed this at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Eziama Obaire in Nkwerre local government area of Imo State at the burial ceremony of Jemaimah Nwosu, mother of his son-in-law Uche Nwosu.
He decried that over seven governors in the country, senators and other notable individuals would have attended the burial as a result of negative security reports coming from Imo State.
He therefore appealed to youths in Imo State not to vent their anger on innocent Imo people over poor governance in the state but rather use their voters cards to express their anger by voting out bad government and leaders both at the state and federal level in the upcoming general election in 2023.
You will recall that Imo State has been in the news in recent times over rising cases of insecurity resulting into killings, kidnapping of notable individuals including some traditional rulers by unidentified gunmen.
