·        Says, move aimed at taking advantage of leaders

The Chairman Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and erstwhile Senator for Imo North in the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has vehemently denied ever being consulted by the Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma before the formation of the recently announced Imo Elders’ Council in which his name was included.

In a statement issued this week in Owerri, Senator Araraume contended that it was procedurally wrong for the Imo state government to have first listed his name and published it without due consultation with him.

He described the action as a cheap means of blackmail aimed at hood winking some Imo leaders.

In the statement issued and signed by this Media Adviser, Dr James Okoroma, Senator Araraume stated that while he was not averse to any genuine effort at peace-making and consensus-building in the state, he would not cave in to underhand tactics meant to blackmail and take advantage of Leaders who are never taken into confidence on the way Imo State is governed.

Senator Araraume further disclosed that as one of the leaders of Imo State and the All Progressive Congress (APC), he was praying for the restoration of peace and security in the State, insisting that God would not abandon Imo people in the current economic and security challenges confronting them.
