The Publishers of Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, Comrade Precious Nwadike and Newspoint Newspaper, Elder Lambert Ojukwu on Saturday April 5th received meritorious awards of honour as “Distinguished Media Icons” from the Christian Voice Newspaper of the Anglican Communion.

They received the awards during the Silver Jubilee celebration of the faith- based newspaper, in recognition of their exceptional contributions towards advancing church work and fostering societal transformation.

Present at the event, Imo Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru congratulated the Christian Voice Newspaper on their silver jubilee celebration, appreciating their visible roles in disseminating relevant information to the public and in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through the medium. She emphasized that the governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma is a media friendly leader who gives the media industry an enabling environment to perform their important roles in the society, stating that he is ever ready to support the media at all levels to ensure optimal result. 

Speaking at the occasion, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Chukwuma C. Oparah, who preceded over the ceremony, emphasized that the Christian Voice Newspaper decided to celebrate few individuals who have remained creditable in their service to God and humanity so as to encourage them to do more, noting that to whom much is given much more is expected. 

He appreciated the awardees for their immeasurable donations to the church of God and visible services towards the betterment of the society and stated that their relentless efforts, selfless sacrifices and indispensable commitment to the growth of the organization have not gone unnoticed. 

Responding, Nwadike who was well represented by Dorcas Achi, expressed gratitude for the excellent recognition, stressing that he has been spurred to intensify in his commitment to advancing the course of the downtrodden and vulnerable in the society.

He dedicated the award to the poor and oppressed who could not attain their dreams because they have no support or anyone to make case for them, he promised to remain a voice to the voiceless and an advocate for good governance.  

Elder Lambert Ojukwu ably represented by Newspoint Correspondent, Ebenezer Ojor, appreciated the Christian Voice for the meritorious award, and congratulated the newspaper for marking their 25th anniversary amid several challenges faced by the media in Imo and beyond. 

Other awardees were former governor, Emeka Ihedioha, Owerri Zone Senator, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Rep. Member for Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon. Tochukwu Okere, Barr. Ifeanyi Olumba, Chief Press Secretary to Imo Governor, Chief Oguwuike Nwachukwu amongst others.
