-Describes Him As Intellectual Giant
His Royal Highness Eze John Nwosu, the traditional ruler of Ihioma autonomous community has mourned the demise of his classmate, late Dr. Cajetan Ajokubi Duruji, a former Imo Commissioner for Education, Health, Information, Culture, Youths and Sports during former Governor Sam Mbakwe’s tenure.
In a heartfelt tribute, Eze Nwosu recounted the life and times of late Duruji, emphasizing on his intellectualism, knowledge and expertise in public service. He recalled how late Duruji satisfactorily headed three ministries in four years, recording tremendous successes.
According to Eze Idinoba Ojiudo of Isiokwu-Ihioma in Orlu LGA, he is mourning the unfortunate demise of the deceased because ” the Honourable Political Job of Commissioner robbed our society of Duruji’s fertile intellect”
He described Duruji as a man who left good legacies in the ministries he served and different positions he held. He recalled that “He was the originator of the Neighborhood School system which brought secondary school education to the doorsteps of those who could not afford boarding school system. He is the father of IBC and ITV. At national level, he served as member of Governing Council of National Open University while at local level, he also served as member of Governing Council of IMSU, offering valuable advice to University Administrations”
As the late Duruji is interred tomorrow, 12th April, 2025 in his hometown, Umuawo Ejemekwuru in Oguta LGA, Eze Nwosu prayed for the repose of his soul and sympathized with his family members, Alumni of Holy Ghost College Owerri and University of Ibadan, his army of admirers and all those who were affected by his irreparable loss.
