Revealing recent developments in the party, the Sec unequivocally condemned what it described as unauthorized, false, misinforming and misleading publications made by the above named persons, after their illegally gathering to maliciously pass purported vote of no confidence on the state Chairman of the party, Barr. Calistus Ihejiagwa without verifiable reasons or following due process in line with the Party’s Constitution.
The motion for the suspension of the dissidents was moved by the Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of the party, Pastor Richardson Madukwe and seconded by Chief John Nwaigwe of Ehime Mbano LGA.
After citing section 19 of the parties constitution which stipulates disciplinary measures against any member(s) involved in acts of insubordination, indiscipline, gross misconduct and misdemeanor aimed at tarnishing the well nurtured image and credibility of the Party and its leadership, 63 out of 64 members of SEC at the meeting vociferously voted in favour of the suspension motion hence, it’s adoption.
The State Executive Council (SEC) thereafter approved the constitution of a five-man disciplinary committee chaired by the 1st state deputy chairman, Dr. Queen Osuala with a mandate to extend individual invitations to the suspended members despite failure to attend the SEC meeting after being duely informed and invited, to ensure fair hearing, justice and equity.
The SEC members emphasized that
“There is no crack or crisis at all levels of the Labour party in Imo State”, as they mandated the committee to unravel the suspended members’ individual or collective grievances and tender its report within three months period for possible reconciliation and reintegration.
The SEC in section finally reviewed the state of affairs in Imo politics and administration and called upon the governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to return from his political tourism in order to tackle unemployment, hunger and starvation currently ravaging the State.
