The member representing Okigwe South in House of Representatives, Chike Okafor, has picked up the outstanding medical bill of eight-year-old Ngozi Anuforo, diagnosed with a tumour of the stomach from birth.
Okafor’s benevolence followed an advocacy to save the minor’s life, championed by an activist-journalist, Chidiebube Okeoma.
Okeoma, who interviewed the mother of the girl and published it on social media, disclosed that a total of N315,000 was urgently needed to save the girl’s life.
The mother of the child, Amarachi Anuforo, had disclosed that her daughter was in dire need of medical attention, having been diagnosed with the disease from birth.
She informed that her daughter’s medical condition deteriorated recently, resulting in a drastic shortage of blood.
While the sum of N215,000 was required to pick up the bill, Okafor sent N250,000, requesting that the girl be given adequate treatment, immediately.
Speaking to Okeoma, Okafor said, “Okeoma, that girl deserves to live. She is our daughter and we must show her that God loves her. This is what I like to do. This is not politics. This is about human life. I don’t know the girl, but I am moved to help, having seen it on your platform.
I have been doing this for years. It has nothing to do with politics. This is just me being myself.
“I was touched by the girl’s condition when I saw her on your platform. If anybody thinks you are using this to chase social media traffic, let him or her start his or hers. God loves what you are doing and we will keep supporting you.
