Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) has successfully inaugurated the 8th National Executive Committee led by Mr. Charles Nwosu, a former Chairman of Abuja chapter.

The event which held in Owerri, the Imo state capital was chaired by former Chief of Staff to the Government of Imo State, Chief Uche Nwosu.

It can be recalled that Mr. Charles Nwosu popularly known as “Porpor” of Abuja chapter defeated his closest rival, Dr. Chima Madu of Imo (mother) chapter in a keenly contested election to emerge the winner in November, 2024.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing President, Barr Okey Ozumba recalled the challenges that confronted his administration, adding that despite the huddles, his tenure was able to record sterling achievements.

Barr Ozumba, represented by the outgone Secretary General, Ik Ogbonna maintained that the spirit of leading Imsu alumni was not hinged on selfish gains but on service delivery and development driven, advising the new leadership to accept viable advise where necessary to be able to succeed.

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Ugwumba Uche Nwosu represented by Barr Okey Anyikwa commended the outgone leadership for uniting the association, adding that as a result of its administrative desterity, the association witnessed less rancour, division and acrimony.

He charged to new leadership to leverage on the breakthroughs made by the past administration by reaching out to leaders and stakeholders across all divides in the discharge of its duties 

While expressing optimism that Charles Nwosu’s led administration would realize as expected, Barr Anyikwa appealed to members to always contribute meaningfully where necessary for the growth of the association.

Speaking, the inauguration committee chairman, Onyekachi Oha who doubles as Deputy President expressed confidence that the new leadership would do its best to galvanize the association, and pleaded with everyone to collaborate with the President to take the alumni to an enviable height.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Barr Chinwe Mbakwem represented by the board Secretary, Barr Clovis Okereke said that since the board did not receive any dissenting voice in form of petition to stop the exercise, the board without equivocation endorsed the entire activities of the inauguration.

He charged the new leadership to work in line with the constitution of the association, adding that anything contrary to the laid down principles of the alumni would not be tolerated by the board.

Meanwhile, the new President, Charles Nwosu thanked members of the association across the globe for given him the privilege to serve, and assured of his willingness to deliver as expected.

He promised to collaborate with members of the executive as well as stakeholders across chapters to be able to realize on target, and solicited the contributions of leaders toward realizing a viable, competent and prosperous association.

Highpoint of the event was the oat of office administered on them by His Worship, Barr Emperor Iwuala.
