-Says: “PDP Or No PDP, Opposition Must Thrive”
House of Rep Member for Ideato Federal Constituency Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has vehemently condemned the destabilisation and continued sabotage of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by its national leaders, emphasizing on their unhealthy alignment with the ruling party to undermine the party’s progress.
Ugochinyere stated this on Sunday 24th November, while addressing a mammoth crowd of party leaders, teeming supporters and Ideato constituents in his hometown, Akokwa in Ideato North LGA of Imo State.
He expressed utmost disappointment at the state of PDP under the leadership of Umar Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu, saying that it is unfortunate that a once formidable party associated with resounding impacts in the country, including putting a stop to military rule, has now been left in the hands of traitors who are only interested in their personal aggrandisement.
He revealed plans by PDP leaders to ensure that the NEC meeting to choose a national chairman from the North Central is frustrated, thereby keeping Damagum in office to perfect their plans of endorsing President Tinubu for second tenure come 2027.
According to him, forces are mobilizing to put a stop to the impunity and rascality masterminded by the party leaders, by challenging the continued stay of Damagum, Anyanwu and others who are running errands to achieve the agenda of the ruling party.
The lawmaker lamented the fact that PDP has currently failed in their responsibility as an opposition party which ought to introduce constructive strategies towards addressing Nigeria’s current bedeviled socioeconomic realities. He maintained that PDP or no PDP, oppositions must thrive in performing their functions optimally, against all odds.
He challenged all party leaders and faithfuls to war against the recklessness and double standards of the leaders, reassuring them of his unwavering courage to fight for the soul of the party.
Speaking on his commitment to effective representation, he stated that his promises of providing basic amenities and social services to Ideato people during his electioneering campaigns are rapidly being fulfilled.
He highlighted some of his projects, ranging from scholarship grants/educational support to deserving students, solar-powered boreholes, solar street lights, construction and reconstruction of classroom blocks, agricultural empowerment, ICT skills empowerment, distribution of first batch 1000 chairs and desks to schools in Ideato etc.
He assured Ideato indigenes that before his two years in office as their Federal legislator, he will complete 100 physical Projects for the people and empower 10,000 Ideato people.
Ugochinyere pledged his allegiance to the people and reinstated his commitment to remaining truthful, incorruptible and vocal even in the face of ongoing threats from many angles, adding that he must stand against any risk or injury to democracy and moral justice.
