The member for Ideato South State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Engr Johnson Duru and his house hold are presently mourning as gunmen said to be engaged in a shootout, killed his son in America.
The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chike Olemgbe who disclosed this at plenary on Wednesday, October, 16, 2024, called for a minute silence in honor of the deceased.
It was gathered from reliable sources that the deceased was an innocent passerby who was caught in a cross fire between two gangs.
Recall, that in July 2021, “Director of International Labour Organisation (ILO), Cathy Feingold, lost her husband, Jeremy White to a crossfire between two rival gangs in New York as she and her husband were strolling home with two friends from a fast food restaurant.
Meanwhile, the news of Duru’s son’s death has cast a cloud of double grief in his country home in Dimagu Autonomous Community in Isiekenesi Ancient Kingdom of Ideato South LGA of Imo State, as the news of the kidnap of the lawmaker’s elder brother, retired Major-General Richard Duru whose whereabouts remain unknown since the incident in September, 2023, is still fresh in the minds of many after fifty thousand dollars ransom was paid to the kidnappers”.
