–  Says, Imo People Dying Of Hunger, Lack, Deprivation

–  Govt Lacks Capacity To Address Anomaly

Distinguished Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the National Secretary and Imo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 has accused the Hope Uzodinma administration of being grossly insensitive to the plight of Imo people who he said are dying in their numbers as a result of hunger, lack and deprivation occasioned by the inept and purposeless Uzodinma administration that has pauperized Imo citizens who have never had it so bad.

Anyanwu, noted that Governor Uzodinma’s antecedents have shown that the All Progressive Congress APC lacks the capacity to either change the narrative or address the numerous problems bedeviling the people.

He expressed dismay that the current administration in the state does not have a blueprint of action, nor does it have the welfare of the people at heart.

He urged the ruling party to as a matter of urgency prioritize the welfare of the people to avoid the imminent breakdown of law and order.

Anyanwu, stated this in a release issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ikenna Onuoha and made available to the press.

The release dated October, 24, 2024, reads in part, “the APC administration in the state lacks the will to restore sanity; the government appears unwilling to offer good governance to the people. This is evident in its sheer negligence of the plight of the masses, unable to guarantee social order, deliberately heightening tension and working against the interest of the citizens.

As a result of the government’s inexperience and inability to pay civil servants and pensioners, Imo people who served the state diligently are reportedly dying in droves.

The government is not only advancing and promoting selfishness, nepotism and gangsterism, but pays less attention to the needs and desires of the masses. A government that is accused of promoting hatred and division can neither curb insecurity nor guarantee safety. This is the major reason the state is facing serious economic, social and political challenges.

It is noteworthy that in the history of Imo state, this is the worst and most corrupt administration that has ever existed. Currently in Imo state, a select government’s appointees are lavishly cruising lives with supposed proceeds of corruption, while the unfortunate ones and Imo people at large are languishing and struggling to eat once in a day.

The questions are; what effort has the APC administration in the state made to dialogue with petroleum marketers to fix a price that will be moderate for the citizens? The truth of the matter is that a government that is accused of reckless spending of Imo money on private jets and other frivolous projects that pose threat to the state’s economy cannot be firm to confront these absurdities.

Regrettably, instead of the government delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, the APC administration is busy increasing tax and imposing outrageous levies on commercial vehicle and motorcycle operators. This is the height of wickedness and diservice to the people.

Senator Anyanwu, the candidate of PDP in the November 2023 Governorship election in the state and currently the National Secretary of the PDP further enjoined Imo people to remain calm, law abiding and steadfast in the face of provocation, expressing hope that the situation may be contained if the government in power can be financially decent and prudent in spending”.
