The people of Okwuabala in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State have been advised to shun hatred, rancor, acrimony and embrace peace, unity and mutual co-existence.
The Chairman, Okwuabala Elders Council, Hon Justice F.C. Abosi (Rtd) gave this advice while inaugurating the Acting President General of the community and members of his executive at the OPU hall on Tuesday, October, 29, 2024.
Justice Okwabala stated that with the inauguration and the emergence of a new leadership comprising people of impeccable character it is expected that all hands will be on deck towards taking the community to greater heights for the good of all. He urged the new executive to work as a team and also carry everybody along, pointing out that transparency breeds trust and confidence which are necessary ingredients for community growth and development.
Abosi, a former President of the Imo State Customary Court of Appeal also urged the people to shun all negative sentiments that may arise from the clamour for the ezeship stool, adding that the choice of a new traditional ruler should not be allowed to polarize the community.
He urged the new Town Union executive to collaborate with the Council of Elders which is the highest decision making organ in the community in order to produce a new Monarch within the shortest possible time.
Recall, that Okwuabala is one of the communities in Imo State that currently does not have a traditional ruler because of the demise of their former traditional ruler.
Justice Abosi stressed that it is only the state government that gives staff of office and letter of recognition to traditional rulers, hence all aspirants to the ezeship stool will be given equal opportunities until the Government decides whom to choose among them.
Speaking in the same vein Barr Chinedu Okwe, urged all the factions to maintain peace and decorum and urged the people to go about their normal legitimate businesses without fear.
The new Acting President General of the community, Nze Dr Okwuoma Osborn Chukwuebuka thanked all present for making time to witness the occasion. He promised to discharge his duties diligently without bias. He also assured that he will do his best to ensure that the efforts of the community’s founding fathers are not negated.

In her own speech, the Woman Leader, Lady Chioma Ukwe, on behalf of the woman folk expressed happiness over the event, while disclosing that the women wing are working tirelessly to contribute to the development of Okwuabala and appealed for peace to enable them to implement their projects. She congratulated the new acting President General and members of the new exco and prayed that God gives them wisdom to pilot the affairs of the community.
Members of the community’s newly inaugurated executive council include, “Nze Okwuma Godson Osborn Chukwuebuka – PG (Okwanwoke Village), Chibuzo Ozuo Secretary (Umundum Village), Comrade Chidozie Anuebu PRO (Umudim Village), Chukwuka Agukwe financial secretary (Umuegere Village), Odinaka Ememe Provost (Umudim Village), Ikenna Okwe treasurer (Ebenezer Okwu)”.
