The Center for Democracy and Advocacy, a human rights group that advocates accountability in governance has called on the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma to account for all the funds that accrued to the 27 Local Government councils in the state from January 2020 when he assumed office till date.
Speaking through their National Coordinator, Comrade Gideon Onyechere, the group argued that, though there were no elected Chairmen, funds that accrued to the state through the councils were disbursed.
They expressed disappointment that their visit to the various local government councils shows that there is no tangible project to show for the humongous amounts that accrued to the Local Government Councils in the state.
They alleged that the Governor is collaborating with his young brother, the Accountant General to mismanage public funds with impunity. They vowed to expose the Accountant General of the State, Linus Okafor, even after he leaves office.
The group noted that the routine JAAC meeting where all the councils were officially told how much they got for the month, has not been held even once, since Uzodinma came on board.
They also noted that one person no matter how educated or highly placed should not manage the resources of the state.
