The poor and abysmal performance of the Uzodinma led Imo state government in virtually all parameters for judging quality, purposeful and people-oriented governance has once again manifested in the 2024 report of Fiscal performance ranking recently released by the Budget office in collaboration with relevant organizations.
The report which has sent shockwaves among Imolites across the political divide indicates that Imo State is trailing behind Plateau, Jigawa, Yobe and 28 other States, despite claim by the Hope Uzodinma administration and its official spokespersons.
Some concerned Imolites who commented on the development said they are not surprised over what is playing out, pointing out that “Governor Uzodinma is more interested in junketing about in chartered flights that gulp the resources of the state instead of sitting down, to think out of the box with a view to proffering solutions to the myriad of problems confronting the state and her people”.
The report also shows that Lagos, Rivers, Anambra, Kwara, Cross River, Kaduna, Edo, Ogun, Ebony and Kano occupy the first tenth positions respectively, while Imo State occupies the 32nd position.
The report also shows that Anambra is in the third position, tops the chart in the South East, followed by Ebonyi in the 9th position and Enugu occupying the 14th position.
Some political pundits who spoke to our reporter said, “It is expected that this will serve as an eye opener to the Uzodinma administration that often diverts attention from its failures by blaming the opposition. It is now obvious that the administration is not only inept but also lacks the capacity to turn the fortunes of the state around. That is perhaps why it is yet to say anything about the minimum wage when other states have made reasonable and reassuring pronouncements about it”.
