As preparations for the Imo Local Government election scheduled to hold on Saturday, September, 21, 2024, reaches a crescendo, a renowned Engineer, philanthropist and major player in the Oil and Gas sector, Reginald Ikemba Nwaorisa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Nkwerre Local Government Area, has affirmed his determination to offer quality, purposeful and people-oriented leadership that will impact positively on the lives of Nkwerre people.
Nwaorisa, who stated this while addressing some newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Tuesday, said, he is motivated by a burning desire to improve the welfare of the people by making Nkwerre a reference point, as regards dispensing the dividends of democracy.
Responding to a question, Nwaorisa, who holds a Masters Degree in Engineering and is a major player in the Oil and Gas sector, said, “I have been assisting widows, widowers, indigent youths and the less privileged in my community in different ways with my personal resources. Hence, my emergence as Chairman of my LGA will enable me to assist them on a larger scale.
Ikemba, as fondly called, also expressed optimism that the ISIEC, being an agency of government will play according to the rules, because the Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma, as a thoroughbred law maker and law abiding person, will not under any circumstance want the exercise to either fail or lead to unnecessary unnecessary controversy that will arise from disputed results.
The young, energetic and vibrant candidate, who, from all indications is ready for the electoral contest, said, if for any reason, he does not win the election, he will congratulate and support the eventual winner of the election to succeed in the overall interest of the people.
He further posited that if the Governor provides a level playing ground for all the contestants and ensures that ISIEC conducts free, fair and credible election, he would have succeed in writing his name in gold, in addition to guaranteeing that posterity remembers him with fond memories.
