–      How Councillorship Aspirant Became Chairmanship Candidate Without Nomination Form

Behind the scene manipulations that compelled Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressive Congress APC to withdraw the list of chairmanship and councillorship candidates that was in circulation have been unveiled.

It was gathered that the list of two local government areas including Ngor Okapala and Ihitte Uboma were tampered with, prompting the Governor and his party, the All Progressive Congress to instruct that the list be withdrawn and kept pending. Hence, uptill this moment, most of the candidates who were jubilating are now confused and still being extorted by some top government officials and party stalwarts, with the assurance that their names will be in the final list of successful candidates for the election.

An insider source who spoke to this reporter on the condition of anonymity said, the Governor is not only disappointed but also very furious that a list he personally compiled was tampered with while in transit to Imo State.

When contacted, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Cajetan Duke, said, he is not aware of such development. He however confirmed that, presently, there is no official list of candidates for the election, thereby giving credence to the information we received from reliable party sources.

Meanwhile, in Nkwerre LGA, where it was reported that two key players who are the Governor’s confidants had issues as regards who should produce the Chairmanship candidate, the Governor intervened in a very unique manner.

According to a reliable source, when the fight became intense, the Governor called for the list of Councillorship aspirants in Nkwerre and selected one of them who did not buy the Chairmanship form to become the APC Chairmanship candidate in Nkwerre. The Governor’s move intrigued and silenced the contending parties who were thrown off balance.

Watchdog investigation reveals that there are different kinds of crisis in most of local government areas, where the leaders and stakeholders are protesting over alleged imposition of candidates, some of who, they claim are not members of the party.
