–         Berate Education Ministry  For Allegedly Defrauding Parents

The National Youth Alliance, Imo State chapter, has expressed dismay over the refusal of Imo State government to conduct the Junior West African Examination for JSS 3 students and the Common Entrance Examination that qualifies primary six pupils to either Secondary school at the end of their primary education.

The group in a release signed by the Coordinator, Comrade Chinoso Uba, Nonsonkwa said, it is very worrisome that the examinations that were supposed to be by student in JSS 3 and primary school pupils in their 6th class are at the end of the academic session in July to enable those who passed to proceed to either the secondary or Junior secondary classes, as the case may be, are yet to be conducted by the state government, despite having collected the required fees from those concerned and their parents.

Nonsonkwa, in the released dated September, 17, 2024, said, “Few months ago, the National Youth Alliance NYA Imo state Chapter, raised the alarm that Imo pupils were yet to sit for the 2024/2025 Common Entrance/ Basic Certificate and the Junior Waec examinations, the Imo government responded to our press release with her usual propaganda and insults, tagging NYA a non existing Organization. We resisted the urge to respond to such clueless statement because Imo people already know this government as a failed government in all ramifications!

Unfortunately, till date, Imo pupils and students who paid for the Common Entrance & Junior Waec examinations are yet to sit for the examinations the government of Uzodimma collected money for.

How best can one describe payment without delivery of service if not scam?

Sadly, the new academic year has resumed for the 2024/2025 academic year, with Imo pupils still in limbo on how to gain admission into JSS 1 and SS1. It is an academic abortion to gain admission into JSS 1 & SS1 without the prerequisites of a common Entrance & Junior Waec examination results.

These two examinations are basics.

This ugly scenario goes to show how unserious and grossly retarded the current administration is, when it comes to education.

Truly, you don’t give what you don’t have.

Its on record that this government believes that investment in education is a waste that yields no money.

For this government, any venture that doesn’t bring in money is not worth it.

It will be on record too, that under the Uzodimma’s administration, Imo pupils and students were denied their fundamental human rights to common Entrance & Junior Waec examinations which is an offence under the Child’s Right Act 2003

The National Youth Alliance NYA Imo state chapter, views this action as not only shameful but a gross abuse of power and lacking in administrative acumen.

Above all this is an onslaught against Imo youths whose future the Imo state government is cluelessly toiling with.

We therefore demand that the Imo state government *refund* the fees paid by parents for the examinations under discourse with immediate effect.

We also demand that Imo government should tender an unreserved *apology* for her failure to conduct these examinations till today the 17th Day of September 2024.

It’s clear that these examinations would never be taken anymore because the 2024/2025 Academic year has already begun.

No responsible government would joke with the Education of her Youths, but here in Imo, the APC government is out to kill it.

Imo education system has gone from worse to worst since Uzodimma took over as governor. Schools are dilapidated and in terrible bad shapes yet the government engages in jamborees.

This is the sorry state of Imo education system & it calls for concern.
