President of the Nigeria Congress NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, was yesterday arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe International airport, Abuja, on his way to London to attend a conference of the Trade Union Congress.

Information available to our news desk indicates that Ajaero was stopped and picked up by the DSS, who are yet to comment on the development or say why he was arrested.

Recall, that Comrade Ajaero, sometime last week visited the Force Headquarters, Abuja to honour invitation by the police.  He was accompanied on the visit by a legal luminary, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) and other human rights activists.

Some concerned Nigerians who commented on the development said Ajaero’s constant invitation by security agencies is aimed at harassing and intimidating the organized labour into submission as a prelude to unleash mayhem on Nigerians, who would be unable to resist the onslaught as a result of the imminent castration of the NLC that has currently been unable to do much considering the prevailing insensitivity of the Tinubu administration to the plight of Nigerians who are already sinking into the abyss of hardship, lack and frustration arising from the poverty induced by the rising cost of petroleum products, especially Premium Motor Spirit PMS, otherwise called petrol.
