— Hails Party For Being Gender Friendly

Ahead of the September 21, 2024, local government election in Imo State, the  coalition of non-indigenes resident in Owerri West local government area of the State has declared its total support for the Chairmanship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Hon. Reginald Ikenna Ubah, popularly addressed as Jabrata.

The group in a meeting at Eziobodo expressed delight at PDP and Ubah’s choice of their pioneer member resident in Nekede, Hon. Precious Onyedimma Oparanozie, as Vice Chairmanship candidate.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman Mr. Sampson Okafor hailed PDP for being gender friendly. He said that PDP by giving women opportunities has proved to be an organized and reasonable party.

Okafor said that before now Nekede had been marginalized in the scheme of things, but PDP has reversed that trend.

The group agreed to vote massively for PDP in the 54 polling units in Nekede which has more than 35,000 votes.

It also described as cruel and barbaric the fact that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State never showed empathy nor condoled with Nekede people after they lost an illustrious son in late Chief Victor Osuji (Baba Ukwu) who was an APC aspirant of the party before his death.

“They ought to have commiserated with the family and the Nekede people. They couldn’t even refund the family the nomination form fee as a measure of compassion. This is inhuman and barbaric.” Okafor said.
