-Says: National President Remains An Accomplice

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council, led by Comrade Precious Nwadike, has distanced its self from the vote of confidence passed on the National President of the Union, Chris Isiguzo by the Union.

Reacting to the purported vote of confidence which he said, is neither here nor there, Comrade Nwadike, said, “Isiguzo, under normal circumstance, should be in prison and be committed to the hall of shame by now, for his brazen attempt to sell the monumental edifice that was donated by the former Military Administrator, Tanko Zubairu, to serve as the union’s secretariat, in Imo State.

The Imo NUJ boss, regretted that, some people still take Isiguzo serious after all he did to destroy the NUJ Nationwide because of his parochial interest.

“Today virtually all the state councils of the NUJ in the South East and Nigeria at large, are engrossed in leadership crises including Imo State, where Isiguzo out of greed and desperation to sell the union’s expansive secretariat, wanted to impose a photographer Chris Akaraonye, a photographer who retired from the Ministry of Information and Culture on salary Grade level O8 in a bid to achieve his fraudulent interest.

“This unfortunately happened at a time Isiguzo could not use his position as the National President, to attract a permanent site for the NUJ in Abia State, where he comes from, but is desperately in a hurry to facilitate the sale of the union’s secretariat in Imo State. What an irony”.

Also speaking, Chairmen of the Press Center Management Committee, Austin Agwulonu, said, since the emergence of Isiguzo as the National President of NUJ, journalists in Imo State have been constantly exposed to all forms of attack because, he has ridiculed the union, aside the indiscriminate conferment of “cash and carry awards that has projected the union in very bad light”.

They called on the state government to be careful with Isiguzo and his antics which, according them have rubbished the image of the NUJ that was once held in very high esteem at the national and state levels.
