– Notifies, ISIEC, IPAC, Relevant Security Agencies Of Leadership Change
Sequel to the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal that reinstated Chief Edozie Njoku, as the authentic and duly elected National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, and subsequent recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, that promptly removed the the out gone National Chairman, Victor Oye’s name and replaced it with that of Chief Edozie Njoku, on their official website, the National Executive of the party has informed the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission ISIEC , relevant security agencies and the Inter Party Advisory Council that the John Iwuala-led Imo State executive of AIGA, has become defunct.
The party, in a letter dated July, 29, 2024 and signed by the National Secretary, Alhaji Muhydeen Imam stated in very clear terms that following his reinstatement, Chief Edozie Njoku has assumed office as the National Chairman of APGA alongside members of his executive comprising, the National Secretary, Alhaji Muhydeen Imam, National Deputy Chairman, (North) Alhaji AD Musa, National Youth Leader, Hon Chuks Nwoga, National Vice Chairman, (East) Hon Tony Uche Ezekwelu, Deputy National Chairman, (South) Chief Henry Okwuchukwu the National Administrative Secretary, Ben Chinedu Okoro, among others.
The party, also made it clear in the letter which was accompanied with the two judgments of the Court of Appeal and a Counter Affidavit from INEC that the Edozie Njoku-led National executive of APGA has distanced and dissociated itself from the John Iwuala-led executive of the party in Imo State agencies.
Hence all those the letters were copied to, including the Imo State Police command, the Directorate of State Service (DSS), the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, the Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, among others should also follow suit.
They also urged them to recognize and deal with the State executive led by Mr Emeka Ozuomba as Acting State Chairman and Hon Vin Amadi, as Acting State Secretary.
The party disclosed this at a press briefing held by the National Working Committee led by the National Secretary, Alhaji Muhydeen Imam, in Owerri, the State capital on Thursday, August, 1, 2024.
According to the National Secretary, the essence of the briefing was to formally inform the press, relevant security agencies and the public that the INEC has recognized Chief Edozie Njoku, as the National Chairman of APGA and his name is currently on the commission’s official website. Muhydeen also said that following the change in the party’s national leadership, a 10-man committee led by Emeka Ozumba and Vin Amadi as Acting State Chairman and Acting State Secretary are to preside over the affairs of the party State as the executive committee of the party in Imo State.
He advised Imo people and those aspiring for elective positions in the September, 21, local government elections on the platform of APGA, to distance and dissociate themselves from the John Iwuala-led State executive and deal with the recognized leadership of the party in the state to avoid being victims of fraud.
He further advised aspirants who had already obtained the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms from the defunct Iwuala-led stare exco to, as matter of urgency, go to the party’s new secretariat at No7/9 Wethral Road, Owerri for regularization and re-validation of their forms, as anything short of that, may lead to nullification or disqualification.
Also speaking, the party’s National Vice Chairman, (South East), Hon Tony Uchechukwu Ezekwelu, said, that APGA is one indivisible family that would accommodate all members who are willing to key into the vision and mission of the party and contribute their quota, because, politics is a game of number.
Recall that the Supreme Court had after a protracted legal battle that spanned a period of over five years, declared Chief Edozie Njoku, as the authentic and duly elected National Chairman of APGA to the applause of many well meaning members of the party who place premium on due process and rule of law.
