“Imo people are not interested in the recent Supreme Court judgment that reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodinma’s victory in the November, 11, 2023 election, which in our opinion was neither here nor there. The reason for the lack of interest is that Governor Uzodinma, has always distanced himself from the people, whose interest he does not care about.
The only people who are aware of the judgment are members of the APC, most of who are silently regretting the mistake they made by supporting the Governor during the last election.
Nigeria Youth Alliance (NYA) stated this in a release they issued in response to the August, 23, 2024, Supreme Court judgment that re-affirmed Senator Uzodinma, as the duly elected Governor of Imo State.
The group, stated that, Imolites at home and abroad have lost interest in Governor Uzodinma’s shenanigans because, he has taken them for a ride in the past five years.
“The reason is not far fetched ; The governor is not in Imo, doesn’t care about ndi Imo, not interested in what ndi Imo are going through ,whether ndi Imo are dead or alive, he doesn’t care ,after all ndi Imo didn’t vote for him. This is the simple truth !
The only people who were aware of any supreme judgment are APC members in Imo. This type of Judgment is boring, tasteless and unequivocally cold.
If the governor was duly elected for by Imo people, the streets of Oweri would have erupted in jubilation and ecstacy but everywhere was unbelievably quite, cold and unconcerned. This too, is an impeccable truth!”
“Ndi Imo are unperturbed about the judgment because the man at the helm of affairs has taken them for a ride for over five years now. These include; non payment of salaries and pensions of Imo workers and pensioners.
Those who are lucky to be paid receive half payments for full payment, in addition to the prevailing lack of accountability of Imo LGA and state revenue allocations between January 2020 and August 2024 (56months), lack of infrastructural development in Imo for 5 years, lack of good road network in all parts of the state, total collapse of government institutions and deep seated corruption in the current government of Imo state.
It is therefore laughable that the governor made mockery of himself by asserting that no one can accuse him of corruption. Unbelievable!
Anyway when the time comes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will determine!
No matter how civil and respectful Imolites are, they can never be taken for granted. Ndi Imo are people who need to know You, Believe in You before they Accept you as a leader.
Ndi don’t know the current Imo Governor, so they never believed in him that was why they can’t accept him !
Unfortunately, the candidates fielded by other parties in the 2023 guber elections were probably not generally accepted by ndi Imo who at that time were looking for a true saviour who is loved by all.
It is therefore on this premise, that the National Youth Alliance NYA Imo State chapter are working tirelessly to prepare Imo Youths for elective positions at all levels come 2027.
In 2027, Imo Youths would have no option than to insist that Imo state is presided over by a responsible and educated person, possesses moral compassion for the people and crowned with the fear of God.
We therefore urge ndi Imo to continue to endure this present administration till 2027 when the dark cloth enveloping the state would be finally removed.
