The President General of Akwauma autonomous community, Hon Pascal Emeana has advised the President General of Uratta community, Stanley Ukaga, to cancel his planned visit to Akwakuma autonomous community on Friday, August, 30, 2024 because he neither did the needful nor pass through the right channel.
Emeana, who expressed reservation about Ukaga’s proposed visit, wondered how the Uratta President General, Ukaga concluded arrangement to visit Akwakuma community for the 2024 Women August meeting without informing him as the President General.
Responding to a question by our correspondent, Emeana, who was visibly angry over what he referred to as an affront said, “few days ago, I went to Amakohia autonomous community at the invitation of the President General who aside being a colleague, is also a good friend.
After exchanging pleasantries, he asked me if the President General of Uratta, sent a letter to inform me of his proposed visit to my community and I said no. At that point, I called Mr Ukaga to confirm if the information I got is true. He claimed to have sent me a text message, which I told him that I did not receive.
I politely told him that it is wrong for him to have concluded plans to visit my community to address the women without informing me as the President General. I also advised him to do the right thing by officially informing my office about his proposed visit to avoid giving his visit and its outcome a different colouration.
He listened to me without saying anything. Since after that discussion I have called Stanley Ukaga severally but he did not respond or call me back. Then on Wednesday, August, 28, 2024, I called Ukaga with another phone number that he least suspected to be mine and he answered and bluntly told me that he has been deliberately ignoring my calls and switched off his phone. I called him back immediately without response. I have also called him severally since then without any response.
I am therefore using this opportunity to advise Stanley Ukaga and his cohorts to cancel his proposed visit to Akwakuma autonomous community on Saturday, August, 30, 2024, to avoid heating up the polity and the attendant unpleasant circumstances for which he would be held responsible.
He should also understand that courtesy and administrative procedure make it imperative that the first person he ought to have discussed his visit to Akwakuma with is the President General who he decided to ignore at his own expense.
I call on the traditional ruler of Akwakuma autonomous community, the Police and relevant security agencies in the state to take note of the abberation and the the likely unpleasant developments that may arise for which Stanley Ukaga, should be held responsible.
Some residents of the community who spoke on the condition of anonymity, blamed Ukaga for not not informing the President General, Pascal Emeana about his proposed visit, pointing out that, if Catholic Priest wants to visit another parish, the first person he will discuss it with is the Priest in charge of the Parish he intends to visit, etc.^
