-Highlights Remarkable Achievements Marking His One Year in Office
Orlu Zone Senator, Distinguished Senator Osita IZUNASO has expressed hope that the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will go along way to stabilize security in the South East.
Izunaso stated this in Owerri on the 4th of July, 2024 during an interactive session with Newsmen, where he highlighted some of the efforts he has made to ensure Kanu’s release, as well as the numerous achievements he has recorded so far within his first year in office.
According to him, the motion seeking for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is his landmark motion which has received a lot of resistance, perhaps because he was the first person to move the motion which was supported by 14 other senators of the South East.
Izunaso revealed that he is taking strategic steps seeking political solutions to ensure Kanu’s release because he passionately desires peace in the South East and economical improvements, which he believes Kanu’s release will facilitate.
He expressed satisfaction that he is fulfilling his campaign promises which are centered on four cardinal points, namely Security, state creation, infrastructural developments and partnership with state government and relevant agencies.
Speaking on Orlu Creation, Izunaso said he promised orlu people that if elected, he will champion the creation of Orlu state, hence his visible efforts to actualize that. However, he emphasized that he desires the creation of Orlu state but open for negotiations which shall ultimately guarantee having additional state in the South East.
On the area of infrastructure, Izunaso stated that he has embarked on laudable projects in Orlu Zone, including, building 2000 capacity Conference Centers (on the pipeline) in the 12 LGAs of Orlu Zone, given scholarship to 200 Orlu Indigenes in the tertiary institutions, given soft loans to 365 women in Orlu Zone among others.
He stressed on his commitment to tackling erosion issues in Ideato North and South, Orlu and Njaba, saying that his first motion in the National Assembly was the motion seeking for urgent intervention in Ideato because of his desire to see that erosion menace resolved.
On partnership, Izunaso said that he is currently partnering with companies who are training 12000 Orlu youths on Artificial Intelligence with the view to establishing those who succeed in the program, stressing that he is passionate about equipping and empowering Orlu youths to be self employed and employers of labour.
Sen. Izunaso announced that he is organizing Orlu Town Hall Meeting on Saturday 6th, July, 2024 where he will interface with Orlu people to review the progress so far and as well address certain issues posing challenges to the peace and prosperity of the Orlu Zone people.
He used the opportunity to appreciate Gov. Hope Uzodinma for taking proactive steps towards improving the security situation of Imo and as well delivering the dividends of democracy in terms of infrastructure, basic amenities and social services.
