The National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Edozie Njoku’s (Onwa Ibeku) made a triumphant entry to Imo State and Ibeku autonomous community, Imo State, on Thursday, July, 18, 2024, after the affirmation of his position by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, in line with the judgments of an Abuja High Court, the Court Appeal and finally the Supreme Court.
Njoku, who was accompanied by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) comprising the National Secretary, Muhydeen Imam, National Deputy Chairman, (North), Alhaji A.D. Musa, National Youth Leader, Hon Chuks Nwoga, National Vice Chairman, (East) Hon Chief Tony Uche, Ezekwelu, Deputy National Chairman, (South), Chief Henry Okwuchukwu, and the National Welfare Officer, Rabiu Musa among others, stated that APGA, is a national party that places premium on internal democracy, rule of law and provision of the dividends of democracy to the people.
He extended the olive branch to aggrieved members of the party, including those in the opposing camp, adding that he and members of his executive, , having been affirmed as the authentic leaders of the party, are not at war with any person or group of persons because engaging in intra party squabbles will not be in the interest of of the party.
Also, in attendance at the event, were members of the state executive council led by the State Secretary, Hon Vin Amadi, a renowned veteran journalist.
Amadi, in a chat with this reporter, said, ^members of the National Working Commitee from different parts of the country, used the opportunity of their visit to Owerri, the Imo State capital for a meeting, to pay a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of Ibeku autonomous committee, in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, where the National Chairman, Chief Njoku hails from.
The Traditional Ruler of Ibeku Okwuato autonomous community, in Ezinihitte Mbaise L.G.A, His Royal Highness, Eze Ukpabia, while expressing happiness that their son has finally become victorious despite all the huddles put in his way, advised him to always be fair, just and upright in the discharge of his duties bearing in mind that it is God that gives power to whoever he wishes.
Members of the National Working Committee, in their separate speeches, said they accompanied Edozie home after their meeting in Owerri, because despite his scheduled visits to other parts of the country, the National Chairman insisted that charity begins at home, hence they came to pay homage to the Traditional ruler of his community be
Speaking on behalf of members of the State Working Committee, the Secretary of APGA, in Imo state, Hon Vin Amadi, a seasoned veteran journalist recalled how Chief Edoziem’s victory has been a recurring decimal right from the High Court to the Appeal and finally at the Supreme Court, where Hon Justice Mary Odili’s error of omission, which was later corrected caused a little challenge.
He said, “sometime ago, when this issue started, Edozie, was affirmed by the High Court as the authentic National Chairman of APGA. Then, later, the Court of Appeal also affirmed him as the authentic National Chairman of APGA. However, before this time, the Supreme Court, in its judgment in favour of Edozie, mistakenly put Oye’s name where it ought to have put Njoku’s name. When we noticed the error, we approached the Court to correct the anomaly, but the Chief Justice of Nigeria told us to make our presentation in the form of a motion, which we did, but instead of obeying the Court Order, the other group projected a man named Sly as the National Chairman of APGA and later organized a Kangaroo congress which we also challenged in Court. Sequel to our challenge, the Supreme Court gave a more powerful judgment in our favour, which compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to delete Victor Oye’s name from their portal and replaced it with that of Chief Edozie Njoku as the authentic National Chairman of our great party.
As I speak to you now, this is the situation, which can not be revered, until Edozie Njoku’s tenure elapses. It is unfortunate that, rule of law and, iillegality have finally taken precedence over lawlessness and illegality” Amadi said.
