“Though, there is no official statement to that effect yet, there are disturbing indications that Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, representing Imo East Senatorial District, (Owerri zone) in the upper chamber of the National Assembly has joined or is at the verge of joining the All Progressive Congress APC, considering his visibility and active participating in APC related events in the state”.

Some keen observers of political activities in the state stated this recently while evaluating and accessing the activities of lawmakers from the zone and their one year in office.

They also noted that Senator Onyewuchi, from all indications seems to be more committed to the APC, as he now frequents the Government House and appears to be more active in APC related events and activities than those of the Labour Party on which platform he was elected to the senate for his current tenure”.

A Govt House source, who also corroborated the speculations of Onyewuchi’s defection to the APC stated that, “aside his frequent visits to the Government House, Onyewuchi’s presence at the swearing of newly appointed Commissioners at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chambers, the inclusion of his name in the brochure of APC South East Stakeholders meeting held in Ebonyi State, over the weekend, speaks volume about his presently hidden but obvious intention. And uptil now, neither Senator Ezenwa nor his media aide has issued a release to disclaim the inclusion of his name in the brochure as one of the Senator of APC extraction.

The same government house source also stated that, “there are indications that Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, may succeed Uzodinma as Governor in 2027”.

When contacted, a Labour Party Chieftain who does not want his, name mentioned, said, “we are neither surprised nor bothered that Senator Onyewuchi is about to join the APC but we wait until he makes his decision official.”Let him make his stand public instead of playing unnecessary hide and seek”.

We all know that he did not support our party’s candidate during the last governorship election, as he was always seen around Uzodinma. “He is no doubt, one of those who clandestinely rode on the back of Peter Obi to win election but now find it difficult to abide or project Peter Obi’s ideology”.
