The traditional rulers in the three Local Government Areas of Owerri zone, comprising Owerri West, Owerri North and Owerri Municipal Council, have commended and passed a vote of implicit confidence in the member, representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Tochukwu Okere (TOSKA) for what they described as his purposeful and people-oriented representation that culminated in several quality projects and other achievements.

The monarchs made the commendation after a meeting they held at the lawmaker’s Obibi Ezena country home on Tuesday, June, 25, where they appraised the performance of the lawmaker who is representing 49 autonomous communities, 83 wards in the Federal House of Representatives.

Some of Hon Tochukwu Okere’s achievements include as follows; sponsorship of 15 Bills, 5 Motions and several petitions on the abandoned projects approved and paid by the Federal government in the Constituency. In human capital development and empowerment, Toska further listed that over 105 women benefitted from his small scale business support, historical Sports and Christian singing competitions. He informed Nde Eze that plans to send out some selected players from the best 3 teams to foreign football clubs have been concluded also in extension pilgrims travel by winners of the Christian Singing competition also at its conclusion.

Other areas touched as he listed are; rehabilitation of bad roads, community Agric seed plantation/empowerment.

On education, Hon. Tochukwu informed Nde Eze, that 100 indigent students were registered in the 2024 WAEC/JAMB examination, 7 sets of 3 classroom blocks with modern toilet facilities constructed in 7 different communities.

Completion of Orogwe Civic center in Owerri West, renovation of Principal’s office and classrooms at Irete and Agbala autonomous community. Solar lights installation and procurement/donation of 500kva transformer at World Bank, Owerri Municipal, respectively.

After listing the above projects, he assured the traditional rulers of his resolve and commitments to reach out every community in the federal constituency with a project, this feat he promised must be achieved before the end of his 4yrs in office.

The traditional ruler Emii ancient kingdom, Eze Okoro E.S. Okoro, reacting to the long listed achievements of the peoples Rep. in a special remark, commended Hon. Sir Tochukwu Okere, for his respect accorded to the traditional rulers in Owerri Constituency and great achievements, described him as a leader who listens, carry the desires of his people at heart, execute and has high regards for traditional rulers.

The Chairman of Owerri North Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze of Egbelu Obube autonomous community, HRH, Eze J.C Nwaogu, expressed his unreserved appreciation for the thoughtful convention of traditional rulers from the 47 communities by the honourable member, House of Representatives, Sir Tochukwu, to interface, interact and get first hand scorecard report from their representative at the National Assembly. He thanked Sir Tochukwu for his great impacts in human and infrastructural development as he called on other community heads who are yet to benefit any project to forward request to the federal lawmaker.

Other traditional rulers who spoke at the meeting appraised Toska for his great accomplishment as they insist that their communities must be remembered and included to benefit from his subsequent projects and empowerment programmes. Pointed out that his representation is top-notch.

The traditional ruler of Umuoma Nekede, Eze Morrison Eke (PhD), equally gave good remarks, seize the opportunity to thank Hon. Tochi for the construction of 3 classroom blocks with toilet facility at the only secondary school in his community. He exclaimed that no politician or representative have ever remembered the school, the structure is first of it’s kind creating a modern and conducive learning classroom for students. The era of defecating and polluting the school environment with human excrete is over, teachers and students now have toilet facility to relieve oneself.

The meeting was wrapped up with blessing of the federal lawmaker performed by 3 oldest ezes’, each from the 3 local government.
