-Town Unions PGs, Uphold Opiah As Apex Leader
As Obile Immediate Past PG, Omuruka Charges Successor On Prioritizing Security.
At least four Communities in Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of Imo State,Assa, Obile,Awarra and Obi-Akpu yesterday stormed Government House, Owerri on Wednesday 26th June,2024 for a “thank you” rally in honour of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The people of the oil producing region displayed placards with inscriptions,”Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah remains our political apex leader in Ohaji/Egbema and he is not inciting any crisis in our communities”. ” The good people of Ohaji/Egbema deeply thank His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma”. Obi-Akpu Community thanks His Excellency for appointing our son,Hon. Princewill Onyeaju the Sole Administrator of Ohaji/Egbema”. Thank you for appointing,Engr. Evans Reward,Hon. Festus Uche Ogbonna and two others as the President-Generals of their various autonomous communities”.
They urged Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to disregard a group that besieged Government House ,Owerri on Tuesday 25th June,2024 protesting against the newly appointed Town Unions leadership, describing them as faceless individuals hiding under non-state actors to inject crisis into their peaceful communities.
Speaking, the newly appointed President -General of Assa Autonomous Community,Engr. Evans Reward stated that it is an established fact that Assa Community is presently hosting over five multi-national and indigenous companies producing oil and gas especially SPDC and Seplat Energy producing over five hundred million cubic feet of gas per day.
Engr. Reward promised to work in synergy to bring the desired development to their Community and Imo State in general.
He thanked Governor Hope Uzodimma and the newly appointed SOLAD of Ohaji/Egbema for the opportunity given to serve his people promising not to disappoint them.
The President -General of Obile Autonomous Community,Hon. Festus Uche Ogbonna expressed happiness that his predecessor,Hon. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka has erected a ladder for him to climb in every sense of oneness and peaceful co-existence in their Community.
Hon. Ogbonna recalled that the immediate past PG of Obile,Hon. Omuruka attracted so many developments to their Community which include Government College, Obile, Healthcare Centre, building of Town Hall, grading of their roads right-round among others.
He promised to emulate leadership qualities of Hon. Omuruka as well as making his people proud.
Also speaking, the Youth Leader of Obile Autonomous Community, Comrade Cosmos Opara described their appointments as a call for service maintaining that they must remain symbol of peace in their various communities.
He promised to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.
While the ruling APC Chairman of Assa/Ward,Hon. Amaechi John maintained that Ohaji/Egbema remains intact for the present 3R Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
He thanked Hon. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka for his thunderous achievements for his people urging the newly appointed PG to follow his footsteps.
Responding, the Chief of Staff, Government,Owerri,Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehere commend the people of the oil rich region for their peaceful disposition urging them to go back home peacefully as he will convey their message to the Governor.
When contacted, the Sole Administrator of Ohaji/Egbema LGA,Hon. Princewill Onyeaju expressed happiness for the kind gesture praising Governor Hope Uzodimma for giving him opportunity to serve his people.
While the immediate past PG of Obile,Hon. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka expressed optimism that the newly appointed PGs will deliver urging his predecessor to prioritize security.
“I am optimistic that his successor will surpass his records. I stopped cult related activities by joining forces with the conventional security agencies to ensure safety of my people,and thereafter attracted Secondary School called Government College, Obile to ensure that our enrol in school and useful to the society which I called operation “catch them young”.
So,I thank my people and Government for the opportunity given to me to serve”,he concluded.
