–      Commends Gov For Reappointment

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Johncliff Nwadike, has described the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma as a visionary leader who is passionately committed to the development of the state, especially the education sector.

Prof Nwadike, who stated this in his office when the Vice Chancellor of  K.O. Mbadiwe University Prof I.N.S Dozie and members of his management team paid him a courtesy visit, also described the Vice Chancellor, as an achiever and team player who works cordially with his dedicated and committed management team.

Addressing his visitors, the Commissioner said, “I am happy that all Staff of your Institution are full of innovations, and the students are doing well, please keep up the good works as the Governor is doing within his power to secure a better future for Imo youths”.

He further noted that there was to provide the need university with branded vehicles to enhance publicity and advertisement to the public.

He advised the Vice Chancellor not to relent in his bid to improve the academic standard of the University, and also to take records of students so as to build a formidable Alumni in the future. 

The Education Boss promised to present to the Governor, the needs of the Institution highlighted by the Vice Chancellor, promising to ensure that KOMU gets her share in the scheme of Government plans for educational development. 

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. I.N.S Dozie, thanked God Almighty who made the performing and visionary Governor, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma to see the potentials in Prof. Nwadike and reappointed him as Commissioner to continue the good works in the Education sector, and wished him well in the discharge of his duties.

Prof. Dozie mentioned  notable achievements of the Institution (KOMU) to include, stabilization of academic calendar, sustainability of students industrial work experience, graduation of two sets of students, introduction of public lecture series, production of annual report, congregation of the University meeting, full accreditation of courses presented to the NUC, uninterrupted academic calender, seamless SUG election, and so many others.

He disclosed some of the plans of the University to include the introduction of new programmes such as nursing, information technology, medicine etc; NUC visitation, approval of PG School, convocation ceremony, inaugural lecture series, and more.

Prof. Dozie also used the occasion to present some challenges facing the institution such as insufficient monthly imprest, Single Treasury Account (TSA), Amendment of the University law, absence of electricity and need for 500kva33 transformer, recovery of building structures/renovation, lack of buses/official vehicles for principal officers, advocacy, and  the absence of a Governing Council.

Nwaohiri, Lebrarian, Barr Obinna Igwe, Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Hippo A. Nwachukwu, Public Relation Officer (PRO) and Oluchi Onyedim, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, among others.
