–         Parishoners Pray For Release, Urge Govt To Wake Up From Slumber

The kidnap of Rev Fr Christian Ike, Parish Priest of St Matthew’s Parish, Ajali, in Orumba North Local Government Area by yet to be identified gun men, barely one month after Rev Fr Chukwuemeka was kidnapped, supposedly, by the same gang at Nkpor Junction, in Onitsha, has once again highlighted the escalating spate of insecurity of lives and property in the South east region, especially, Imo and Anambra.

In the instant case Fr Ike and Mr Ogbonnia according to a statement signed by Rev Fr Lawrence Nwankwo, Chancellor, Diocesan Catholic Chancery, Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, were reportedly kidnapped at about 9.45am yesterday, while on their way home from morning mass at an out station of St Mathew’s Parish, Ajalli, Orumba, North Local Government Area.

The statement also solicited prayers for the release and safe return of the victims, whose whereabout is presently unknown.

The statement reads, “Dear Brothers and Sisters, CALL FOR PRAYERS. KIDNAP CASE, REV. FR. CHRISTIAN IKE

“Please pray for the release of Rev. Fr. Christian Ike and Mr. Ogbonnia Aneke, who were kidnapped this morning around 9.45 a.m as they were returning from Mass in an outstation of St. Matthew’s Parish, Ajalli, Orumba North L.G.A.

“We implore the maternal intercession of Our Mother of Perpetual Help for their release”.

The State Police Command spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of going to press”.
