Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, (OYA) the apex umbrella socio-cultural youth organization of the 12 Local Government Areas in Orlu zone, has called on the Imo State government to prioritize dispensation of the dividends of democracy to Imolites.
National President of the group, Comrade Thaddeus Emejuru, stated this in his democracy day message, a copy of which was made available to Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper.
Comrade Emejuru, a vocal and consummate youth leaders said, “today, we celebrate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, a day that symbolizes our nation’s journey towards freedom, equality, and justice. As the apex socio-cultural youth organization representing the interests of Orlu youths across the 12 local government areas of our zone, we seize this opportunity to reflect on our collective progress and call on our leaders to address the pressing needs of our communities.
“The OYA National President, who commended the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma and members of his cabinet for their efforts in sustaining democracy further said, “However, we urge them to bring the dividends of democracy closer to the doorstep of every Orlu indigene and Imo citizen. Our zone, Orlu, still faces significant challenges that require urgent attention.
“The Umuchima-Ideato erosion site, which has left many people homeless, demands urgent remedial action. We implore the government to allocate necessary resources to mitigate this environmental disaster and restore the dignity of our people.
“We also emphasize the need for improved healthcare and security in our zone. Our healthcare facilities require upgrades, and our security infrastructure needs strengthening to ensure the safety of our citizens.
“As we celebrate democracy, we reiterate our commitment to holding our leaders accountable for the development of our zone. We believe that collective efforts and collaboration can drive meaningful progress”.
