– May Drop Presidential Aspiration For Tinubu’s Re-election
Recent developments in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, that has led to the mass resignation of leaders across the country seems to have paved the way for Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State and currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to hijack and take control of the party.
Wike, who muzzled dissenting voices during the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the PDP after masterminding the failure of the party to sack the National Chairman and other members of his executive who had earlier been accused of being mercenaries being used by the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, to destabilize the PDP and make it unable to perform its role as the main opposition party.
A Chieftain of the party in Abuja who recently resigned his membership said, “the failure of the party to sack the National Chairman and other members of his exco who are all Wike’s loyalists has made it possible for him to hijack and teleguide the party for his masters and the APC. It has also given him an edge in the PDP. Wike, from all indications has the mandate to destroy the PDP and make it unable to field a presidential candidate in 2027”.
“There are also speculations that Tinubu will handover to a Southerner after his second tenure. We all know the game Wike is playing. The PDP is no longer an option for most of us because it has lost steam, focus and relevance”. It was also gathered that the G-5 Governors have concluded plans to join the All Progressive Congress having been assured of adequate compensation.
In Abia State, former Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu’s loyalists are leaving the party in droves in line with the directive of their Master, Nyesom Wike. “All these seem to have given emboldened Wike’s loyalists in Rivers State who now have the courage to insult, disobey and cast as person of Gov Simi Fubara, who they believe would be removed sorn.
A source who spoke to Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, recently said, “it is no longer a hidden fact that Wike and his group, have been mandated to destabilize the PDP and frustration the party frustrate members out of the party”.
