The Ozo Title Taking of Chief Calistus Ifunanya Eze, Ezechukwufurunanya 1 of Ohakpu Kingdom, the Orluzurumee President, Germany Branch was greeted with celebrations, jubilations and accolades from indigenes and entire inhabitants of Ohakpu Kingdom in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State.
Chief Ezechukwufurunanya was crowned the Nze Okwuama Oji 1 of Ohakpu Kingdom by Ezeala Romanus Ezealaekwu 11 of Ohakpu Kingdom who appreciated his community development services and blessed him immensely for courageously taking the Ofo of his community which is a symbol of justice, truth and authority.
Chief Ezechukwufurunanya while speaking at the event expressed profound gratitude to everyone who gathered to witness the epoch making event, stressing that he is satisfied that he is taking over the noble mantle of upholding traditional practices of the land from his late father Chief Nze Eze Udemmadu.
According to him, he embarked on the auspicious ceremony to fulfil his desire of bringing back the original gods of the land and the cultural heritage of his people which have been destroyed by some persons in the name of practising christianity in Ohakpu and Igbo land in general, adding that culture and traditions of the Igbos must be preserved at all cost.
He appreciated his community for giving him the Ofo of Ohakpu Kingdom which he said he shall use to wedge war against their territorial enemies and ensure peace, unity and progress in the land, adding that Ofo is likened to the holy Bible which upholds the tenets of uprightness, integrity, righteousness and honesty at all times.
Chief Ezechukwufurunanya advised Igbo people all over the world to treasure their cultural heritage which he said it’s their greatest value and recognition. He quoted the scripture which says “obey the law of the land that your life will be long” while reinstating the importance of
bringing back the original tradition and festivals which unites Igbos as a people.
High Chief Silvanus Chukwuemeka Ani, Ochiriozuo 1 of Obiofia, a member and very good friend of Igwe, Big Brothers International while interacting with Newsmen at the event, thanked Chief Ezechukwufurunanya for being a representative of the Igbos both at home and in diaspora, and encouraged him to keep the flag of the Igbos flying. He appreciated his family for keeping enviable record of a peaceful, united and progressive family who has remained passionate about public service.
Chief Ezechukwufurunanya specifically appreciated dignitaries from all walks of life who graced the occasion. He thanked Big Brothers International, Obinwanne club, Tick Tank world wide and charged them to keep promoting Igbo cultural heritage through speaking the Igbo language, involving in cultural practices,etc.
