– Suspect, Nwanguma granted bail
– Journalists want him arraigned for stealing
Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council, have doffed their hats for the Commissioner of Police in the state, Danjuma Aboki, for his prompt intervention which led to the arrest and detention of one Ifeanyi Nwanguma of Star Post Newspaper who forcefully carted away some of the union’s property which were also recovered.
The union expressed disappointment at the conduct of the Divisional Police Offficer (DPO) of New Owerri Police Division, for what it described as the seeming unprofessional manner he handled the matters before it was reported to the Commissioner of Police.
It would be recalled that, “he was there with a big truck and used thugs to break into the three offices.
Occupants in the premises raised an alarm, so some Journalists, Williams Odunze, Val Nduka and Reginald OLoko, worthy comrades, confronted him and dragged him to Police station”.
It is on record that this is not the first time that Ifeanyi Nwanguma has stormed the union’s secretariat with thugs to wreak havoc, despite the fact that there is a subsisting suit bordering on leadership tussle and an order that the existing status quo should be maintained pending the determination of the suit.
