The grand finale of the TOSKA Singing competition organized by the Member, representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representative, Hon Tochukwu Okere for churches in his constituency was held at Jehovah Jireh Anglican Chruch, Egbu, in Owerri North Local Government Area on Saturday, February, 24, 2024.
The competition, with the theme, “Too Chineke” was attended by many churches in Owerri Federal Constituency who were given the sum of one hundred thousand naira each to prepare.
At the end of the grand finale which was presided over by eminent personalities and church leaders, St Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church, Umudibia Nekede in Owerri West L.G.A, came third, and went home with a cash prize of #500,000, while Christian Community Church choir, Ikenegbu, in Owerri Municipal Council, came second and got a cash prize of #750,000.
The Angelic voices of St Mark Anglican Church, Amakohia, in Owerri North Local Government Area which emerged the overall winner of the competition was presented with a cheque of one million naira with slots for automatic pilgrimage to Jerusalem that will be allotted by the leadership of the church, in addition to a brand new set of robes for the choir.
The high point of this year’s TOSKA Christian singing competition was that, it coincided with the 11th anniversary of the Bishop of Egbu Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt Rev Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okereafor who was also Chairman of the occasion.
