-As Otti Sustains developmental strides
The Governors of the South East states whose performance have been described by many as inept and abysmal are said to be unsettled by the quality and people-oriented leadership of their Abia State counterpart, Alex Otti, who, in less than 8 months in office commissioned an Independent Power Project (IPP) and 3 major roads, in addition to six other roads he had earlier rehabilitated.
There are reports in several quarters that the Geometric Power Project which the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kassim Shettima commissioned recently on behalf of the President has rattled Alex Otti’s colleagues who now feel uncomfortable with the level of accolade Otti recieves for buiding a private power station.
A chieftain of Labour Party in Abia state,Chief Godwin Abonta told this reporter that “all the Governors in the Southeast were duly invited to the commissioning of the IPP at Osisioma, Abia State, but they deliberately scheduled a similar event at Enugu on the same day to avoid Otti’s day of glory and commendation. They tactfully boycotted the commissioning ceremony at Abia State with the flimsy excuse that they attended a similar event at Enugu”.
The LP stalwart further stated that, “aside the Power Project that is already supplying electricity to nine Local government areas in Abia State, the 3 roads that were commissioned simultaneously, the Abia State Governor has recorded other ground breaking achievements that have exposed the lack lustre performance of other South east Governors who have become jittery and panicky because the people are now using Alex Otti as a yard stick to measure their performance”.
“Otti’s, monumental achievements have exposed the insensitivity of his other colleagues in the Southeast to the plight of their people, despite the lame excuses they give ranging from “our state is not like Rivers that rakes in stupendous amounts from Internally Generated Revenue IGR and humongous allocations form the Federal Government, etc”.
Recall, that none of the Governors of the South east states was present at the Commissioning of the Independent Power Project and three roads at Abia State recently.
The roads commissioned are, Omoba Road, Jubilee Road, and Queens Road, all in Abia, the State’s economic nerve center.
