A renowned Estate Surveyor and Sole Attorney of the Federal University of Technology,Owerri,FUTO host Çommunities,Chief Sam Anokam has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to appoint an expert to oversee the affairs of the State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical planning.
Survey Anokam advised Governor Hope Uzodimma not to make mistake during reconstitution of his Cabinet adding that appointing experts to manage their different areas of professions will give more credence to his second term in office as well as providing good governance to the Imo populace.
It would be recalled that Governor Uzodimma’s Lands Commissioner during his first tenure in office Hon. Noble Abiaso Atulegwu later ended up in spending 40days and 40 Nights in police net at Imo State Police Command,Owerri over land racketeering .and lack of Lands Administration and other policies seemed to be against land administration.
While his counterparts, Commissioner for Housing, Mrs. Love Ineh and Director of Lands in the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning,Mr. Paul Uwalaka also gnashed their teeth in the police custody before they were granted bail to re-unite with their families while police investigations continue.
This development prompted the Governor to immediately appointed Hon. Paschal Nwakanma ( Dum Dum) as his Special Adviser on Lands Recovery.
However, this newspaper observed that the Governor’s Aide had already recovered so many landed properties belonging to Imo State Government that were illegally acquired by the same top Government functionaries who served under Uzodimma’s first tenure in office..
Furthermore, Surveyor Anokam submitted that what led to the miscarriage of Land administrations during the Governor’s first term was as a result of fielding quackery to manage such an all important sector.
” Do you know that in every societal, sphere, developments and growth lands are constant. Development must take place in a land. Yes,if I am called for an advisory capacity. I will reveal the importance of good lands administration to the government and ensure that the governor will appoint Competent, knowledgeable and educated people in the land administration affairs which will go a long way to save a lot and bring the State into progressive development”. Anokam said
On the activities of the Governor’s Special Adviser on Lands Recovery, Chief Anokam said that the young man should first of all know what the Government want and go about his job diligently and avoid political witch-hunting and vendetta which will likely cause more harm than good because of issues of litigations.
On the Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO and host Çommunities land disputes, Chief Sam Anokam said that the matter has reached a point of settlement as the Federal Government has agreed to allow some areas for the host Çommunities as he is only expecting the approved documents as regards to the peaceful understanding and when ones the documents is available all forms of acrimonies, bitterness,. disputes between the institution and the host Çommunities will foreclose.
