According to the Uche Izuogu Autonomous Community constitution, the Eze in Council, which is the body charged with the selection process, wrote first and second letter to the Umuche Royal family to produce a person to replace the late Monarch HRM Eze Jonas Ekemezie Ngoforo Uche. The only name submitted to the Eze in Council after the two letters written to Umuche Royal family was that of Prince Uchenna Ngoforo Uche by the Umuche Royal family. Hence, Prince Uchenna Ngoforo was unanimously selected and presented to the Ideato LGA and the State government.
The history of Uche Izuogu Autonomous Community commenced in ernest when Governor Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe of the blessed memories confirmed and awarded the community an autonomy after years of leadership struggle between Ndiuche and Ndiawa under the leadership of Late HRH Eze Edwin Imoh. Prior to this period, Ndiuche had operated as a village under Arondizuogu autonomy headed by Edwin Imo of Ndiawa.
According to the Arondizuogu historical records, Mazi Uche Izuogu happened to be the first son of Mazi Izuogu Obunukpo, who migrated from Arochukwu Ancient Kingdom during the slave trade era and settled in the present locations of Arondizuogu. Overtime Mazi Uche relocated to the present Ndiuche Izuogu Autonomous Community, and with the help of many warlord-friends and relatives, they were able to fend off enemies and settled there.
It was reported that due to the distance between Ndiuche and the rest of Arondizuogu Clan and other existing issues between the two brother communities, Uche Izuogu began to fight for the leadership stool of Arondizuogu Clan since Mazi Uche was the first born of Mazi Izuogu.
The disputes lasted for many years and when it became obvious that it might lead to a lot unresolvable damages, the then Governor of Imo State late Governor Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe decided wisely to grant Ndiuche an autonomy and immediately crowned and awarded HRM Eze Jonas Ekemezie Ngoforo Uche the stool and staff of office as the pioneer Monarch of Uche Izuogu Autonomous Community in 1979, which is an entirely brand new community and stool distinct from that which was struggled over at Ndiawa.
It was recorded and widely known that late HRM Eze Jonas Ekemezie Ngoforo Uche was an Aba based businessman who was summoned and pleaded to take on the mantle of the throne of the leadership of Ndiuche as the Eze to lead the community in the heinous fight with Ndiawa over the Eze-offor which was with Ndiawa. HRM Eze Uche accept the mandate and led the fight and got the autonomy and stool of the community from State government via the wise decision of Governor Mbakwe.
