– Says, He Was Invited By Tiger Base
More facts have emerged about how the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Roseline Izuogu and her son, Precious, who also doubles as her Personal Assistant allegedly beat, tortured and humiliated the Public Relations Officer PRO of the Commission, Unegbu Chimaobi Micheal who they would have reportedly subjected to more harrowing experience if God had not intervened and used the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, the Head of Service, Mr Raymond Ucheoma and others to save him.
Narrating his ordeal, Unegbu Chimaobi Micheal, said, he was beaten by Izuogu’s son and the thugs he hired until he almost became lifeless and was rushed to the hospital.
“While still on admission in the hospital, Izuogu’s son, lodged a complaint against me at the New Owerri Police Station. What saved me was that when the policemen came, they saw that I was already half dead. Hence, they left a message that I should report to their office as soon as I was discharged.
When I was eventually discharged, I went to their police station as requested and met the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) interrogating Mrs Izuogu’s son, who told the DPO, that I insulted his mother. The DPO asked him why he did not react immediately until he went and brought the thugs with whom he attacked me. At this point, he did not say anything.
When the DPO noticed that the case lacked merit, he left it open ended without initiating further action”.
“Apparently provoked by the DPO’s commendable professional stance, Mrs Izuogu and his son, Precious, went to the Tiger Base Unit of the Imo State Police Command. Consequently, operatives of the Tiger Base intercepted me on my way to the office. As God would have it, some of my colleagues who witnessed the development, alerted the former Commissioner for Information, Chief Declan Emelumba and the Head of Service, who used their contacts to compel the police to hands off the matter. That was how God used them to save me, otherwise, the instruction was to beat, detain and possibly, put me permanently out of circulation for refusing to carry Mrs Izuogu’s hand bag, which was not part of my duties in any way”.
When asked why he does not want to take up the mater, he said, he was told that the woman is a very mean person. “I was also advised to let go since the government is involved. Hence, I decided to leave everything for God to handle and dispense justice accordingly”. He however expressed shock that Mrs Izuogu could contemplate dragging the media outfit that reported the incident to court instead of being apologetic”.
