– As Imo Govt Plays Down On Criminal Charges Against Them
There are speculations that, following the massive support that former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu mobilized for the re-election of Governor Hope Uzodinma, the Imo State government has decided to play down the several criminal charges against him and other members of his father-in-law, Rochas Okorocha’s political dynasty.
A Government House source who spoke to this Reporter on the condition of anonymity said, “that is why for sometime now, nobody has said anything about the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC investigation into their activities while in office. We also have it on good authority that the recent meeting of the Rescue Mission Family convened by Senator Okorocha in his Owerri residence, where they resolved to throw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hope Uzodinma is aimed at further showing their solidarity to indirectly seek soft landing.
As it is now, there are indications that even if Governor Uzodinma decides to go on with the probe which is very unlikely the presidency will intervene on their behalf. That is their very smart game plan which, to a very large extent has yielded result”.
Recall, that members of the Rescue Mission family, the political structure of the former Governor of Imo State and immediate past Senator for Orlu Senatorial zone, Owelle Rochas Okorocha met at the latter’s Owerri residence on Saturday, January, 8, 2023. The members who were drawn from the twenty-seven local government areas of the state, deliberated on a wide range of issues at the meeting which was presided over by Senator Okorocha while the Deputy Leader of the group, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, was also present.
“After extensive deliberations under a solemn atmosphere, far reaching decisions were taken for the progress, development and growth of the state and her people”.
This was contained in a release issued by Sam Onwuemeodo, on behalf of the Rescue Mission political family in Imo State.
According to the release, “it was unanimously resolved at the meeting that, the Rescue Mission Political family would continue to pray, support and work assiduously for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC government at the center, which he superintends.
“It was equally agreed upon, that, the Rescue Mission Political Family, would continue to work hard and committedly, for the growth and Progress of APC at all levels.
It was unanimously resolved too, that, the Rescue Mission Political Family, should continue to support Governor Hope Uzodimma and the APC government in the State, which he presides over.
The meeting highly Commended all the Rescue Missionaries for their steadfastness.
Also note that, all these developments or issues involved, had been trending before now, but only streamlined this time, for the sake of emphasis and for the avoidance of doubts”.
Meanwhile, a cross section of Imo people who expressed concern over the development said, they are watching to see how the collective interest of Imo people whose patrimony was stolen and looted by Okorocha and his cohorts would be mortgaged on the altar of political support and patronage as if they are an individuals personal property that he has the sole right to take decisions on.
