Peace and stablity appear to have finally returned to Obi Mbieri Autonomous community,Mbaitoli Local Government area,following the Judgement of FCT Federal High Court,recently which declared Dr Kyrian Chinedu Ndikom, Substantive Prime Minister and Acting Traditional Ruler of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community
The judgment of the court delivered at Abuja on the 14th day of December 2023 in a suit filed by the interim government of Obi Mbieri Town Union against chief Kyrian Chinedu Ndikom reads in part,”That the respondent shall act as the traditional Ruler in the absence of the Monarch, especially if the Monarch is incapacitated or otherwise.
“That the respondent cannot be removed from office except if been convicted of any crime known by Nigerian law.
“That respondent is the traditional Prime Minister and a trustee / Patron of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community and Town Union and other reliefs.
By the recent judgment, the respondent, Chief Dr Kyrian Chinedu Ndikom shall oversee the affairs of the traditional institution of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community pending the return of the traditional ruler in capacity to the community as required by the Imo State authorities.
Recall that there have been claims and counter claims of who is actually in charge of the Traditional Institution of Obi Mbieri Autonomous community in absence of the Treditional ruler of the community.
While,Ndikom discharged his duties as Traditional Prime Minister(TPM) of the community diligently,some Impostors went about laying claim to same position,in total disregard to the constitution of the community.
The Traditional Ruler has been out of circulation for years now.As expected and inline with the constitution of the Community,the Traditional Prime Minister should hold sway pending the Monarch’s returns.
