–Condemns Murder Attempt On Him Of NLC President,
Olu Owerri, the apex socio-cultural organization of the nine Local government areas in Owerri zone, has condemned in unequivocal terms, the attempted murder of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was in Imo State for the activities the congress lined up to protest against the maltreatment of Civil Servants in Imo State by the Hope Uzodinma administration.
The President General of the group Chief Martin Opara, in a release he issued, yesterday called on all sons and daughters of Owerri zone, irrespective of their political leanings to stand up against the unwarranted humiliation of their illustrious son who has attained the height of the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC.
The release reads in part, “That an Owerri son of Comrade Joe Ajaero’s status can be beaten up in the streets of Owerri without regard that he has paid his dues and is on a legitimate NLC assignment, leaves much to be desired”.
Olu Owerri will not hesitate to call Owerri people out to defend themselves in the face of this threat to our lives in our own land”.
“We call on all workers all over Nigeria to rise up to the occasion because injury to one is injury to all”.
