– Reveals Latest Discoveries In Imo
– Highlights Projects For State Recovery
After his campaign tour of the twenty seven Local Government Areas of Imo State, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, for the November, 11, Imo State governorship election, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Samdaddy), has revealed some of the discoveries he made concerning the real situation of the State under the current administration while also reiterating his vision, plans and the projects he intends to execute in his determination to transform, reposition and restore the lost glory of the state.
Sen. Anyanwu told newsmen on November, 9, 2023 during a World Press Conference at the PDP campaign office, that the All Progressive Congress APC has deceived Imolites, traumatized, suffocated and rendered the state comatose, hence it must not be allowed to continue in office.
He emphasized that in the course of his campaign tours, he realized that there are no good roads in Owerri metropolis and no 1 kilometer asphalted road in the entire state, saying that the only campaign issue the ruling party has is the Orlu and Okigwe Federal roads which were projects launched and started by the Rochas Okorocha administration.
He decried the deteriorating condition of public schools in Imo where there are no teachers, no chairs, desks or other learning materials to enhance teaching and learning. He condemned the fact that even tertiary institutions in Imo State don’t have power supply, good toilet systems and other essential facilities.
According to him, many teachers in our public schools are being owed, while some civil servants and pensioners have not been paid their salaries/pensions for 42 months, stressing that Imo State has never had it so bad.
Anyanwu revealed that over 2000 Imolites have lost their lives within four years of the Uzodinma administration, stressing that it is almost impossible to find young men within the ages of 18 to 40 walking along the streets in many parts of the state, especially in Orsu, where the incumbent governor hails from. He also noted that Imo people living in the diaspora are afraid of returning home for fear of insecurity.
However, Sam Daddy described Imo as a predominantly PDP state, stressing that Imo was peaceful, developing and improving greatly when PDP was in power and the party is the only solution to the problems and challenges facing the state.
His words, “I am the most credible candidate for the November, 11, governorship election having been actively part of three past administrations in the state. Imo people will have succor when I’m sworn in as the Governor.
“I will not be a Governor that will waste resources of the state by destroying what was built by my predecessors. I will improve on the projects I meet.
“My administration shall declare state of emergency on our public schools and give face lift to our schools so that children of the poor can enjoy conducive learning environment. We shall embark on constant training and re-training of teachers and ensure that salaries are paid as at when due. I will promote workers and pay those who are promoted according to their levels.
I will encourage autonomy of the State House of Assembly and ensure LGA autonomy. I was a two term Local Government Council Chairman, hence, I know the importance of LGA autonomy. I will not play around with LGA allocations, but will ensure that LGAs are independent as they ensure development at the grassroots.
“There shall be massive youth empowerment and job creation. As a Council Chairman, I made sure that 120 Ikeduru Indigenes were employed and I sponsored ICT training for 100 youths 22 years ago and have done more to engage the youths meaningfully.
“I will reintroduce Imo Rural Road Maintenance Agency (IRROMA) to help the Ministry of Works, There shall be citizens participation in government under my watch. This is our state. We must recover it”.
Sen. Anyanwu faulted Hope Uzodinma’s promise to sponsor four thousand Imo youths to Europe, saying that the money that will be spent on that movement will be used by a visionary leader to make many Imo youths employers of labour in Imo, thereby boosting the economy and revenue of the state.
