Contrary to claims by the Imo State government and its agents that insecurity has been nipped in the bud the situation has become more frightening as dare devil gunmen and assassins have become more daring.
The latest incident that has kept tongues wagging is that of the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze ward in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, who was reportedly shot and killed in his residence by yet to be identified gunmen.
A source who was at the scene of the incident said, “the victim who was a native of Chokneze, was in his house which also serves as his business premises when two men who rode on a motor bike stormed there and met his wife.
They asked her, where is Dozie? Before she could answer them they identified their target and opened fire on him. They also waited to confirm that he was dead before they zoomed off”.
The death of the PDP Chieftain has once again brought to the fore, the terrifying menace of insecurity and attendant challenges that have taken their toll of Imo people without any solution in sight.
