A group known as Imolites For Good Governance IFGG has lambasted Governor Hope Uzodinma over his promise to take 4000 Imo youths to Europe and Canada where they will be offered employments.

The group’s spokesperson, Kenneth Nnadi, who expressed their feelings after an emergency meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital yesterday, said that Uzodinma has once again told the whole world that he has no regard for the youths of Imo State who he has always taken for granted.

He said, “for a Governor who we heard can’t travel to the United States of America, Canada and most Western countries to make such bogus promise is an insult on the sensibilities of Imo youths who he has shown so much disdain for.

“It is regrettable that, at a time when nations all over the world, including President Bola Tinubu are condemning brain drain, Uzodinma is deceiving Imo people with his non-existent jobs in Europe and Canada just to actualize his dead on arrival second term ambition”.

“This was the same way he promised to empower 15,000 youths of Imo State with ICT training. Yet, today no single person has identified him or herself as a beneficiary of the training, except the few photographs that were taken and circulated.

“The same scenario repeated it’s self in the rabbit farming episode that has remained a fairy tale Governor Uzodinma in his penchant for deceit and manipulation, also promised to empower 15,000 Imo youths with #250,000 grant each. Most of them who were lured into taking the grant were not told that it was a loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN. Today, they are being harassed and pursued here and there to repay the loans which the Hope Uzodinma administration lured them into obtaining without proper explanation just to score cheap political points. This is unacceptable and must stop”.

The group described the promise of 4000 jobs in Europe and Canada as the height of deceit and disregard for discerning youths of Imo State who have known the stuff Governor Uzodinma is made of and have vowed not allow him hoodwink them again.

They called on the Governor to account for the millions of naira that accrued to the state for the empowerment of youths adding that the prevailing high rate of insecurity in the state is linked to idness, poverty and lack occasioned by unemployment.

“We therefore call on Uzodinma to desist forthwith from deceiving and taking Imo people, especially the youths for granted, because we have had enough of his fraudulent antics”.
