-Accuses Opponents Of Sponsoring Misleading Stories
Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the governorship election scheduled to take place in Imo State, November, 11, 2023 has affirmed that he is still the National Secretary of the party despite the deceitful falsehood being peddled by those he referred to as disgruntled agents of mischief who are saying that he has been relieved of his position as the PDP scribe.
Senator Anyanwu stated this in a release signed by the Secretary General of Sam Jones Campaign Organization, Hon Prince Marshal Okoroafor Anyanwu (Ogene) and made available to the press.
The release captioned, “SamDaddy, still National Secretary of PDP”, reads, “The attention of Imo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Campaign Organization has been drawn to another tissue of lies being peddled by some desperate politicians and detractors of Senator Samuel Anyawu, that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party has relieved our candidate of his position as the party’s Scribe.
Aside from reaching out to some of their friends who, despite their blackmail have remained steadfast with us in our stoic resolve to recover Imo State from the stranglehold of those who have for almost 4 years now subjected our people to untold hardship, they have gone as far as sponsoring such baseless report in a section of the media.
Having been committed to activities geared towards saving our dear state, we would have ignored the naysayers and their propaganda but for the interest of the reading public who repose so much confidence in our candidate, we state as follows;Senator Samuel Anyawu remains the National Secretary of PDP and has since assumption of office in that capacity, discharged his duties creditably to the satisfaction of every stakeholder of our great party.
“Those who claim that his continued stay as National Secretary of PDP violates the party’s constitution are not conversant with our party’s constitution. We therefore refer them to Section 48(1) of the PDP Constitution. This section allows party officials to retain their positions while contesting any elective position in Nigeria.
“It is on record that the current Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency Dauda Lawal was State Chairman of PDP until he was elected governor. It was after his election that he relinquished his position as party chairman.
“We had expected that those who clamour for Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s removal to have gone to court if they are not out for mischief and misinforming the uninformed public.
“As a campaign organization, we reiterate that our principal is on the good side of the law as he has never breached any section of PDP Constitution.
We challenge those who think otherwise to point out any section of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Constitution that provides that a party official who is a product of convention should resign his position before seeking any elective position in Nigeria.
“Sadly, we have been told that those on this voyage to unseat Senator Anyanwu are not planning on substituting him with another Imo person but those who will advance their political ambition, even if they come from the North or South West.
“The worrisome state of affairs in Imo today dictates that people of good conscience and moral soundness should join forces to rescue the state from Uzodinma’s misrule and desist from chasing shadows. Any action contrary to this is against the good people of Imo State.
“We therefore counsel those in this wild goose chase to desist from it else they will have to bury their faces in shame forever”.
