The upcoming governorship election in Imo State, scheduled to hold on November, 11, 2023, will from all indications, be a battle of the titans as the major contenders, Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress APC, Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Patry PDP, Athan Achonu of Labour Party LP and of course Ikenga John Jude Okere, of Accord Party who have been marketing themselves, their political parties and manifestos are not leaving any stone unturned.
However, concerned Imolites who have been taking note of happenings in the political terrain are of the opinion that the Accord Party candidate Johnjude Okere, is the only person among the lot that does not have a single baggage.
It is also said in several quarters that, aside having a well articulated blue print of action Ikenga Okere is passionately committed to the comprehensive socio-economic development of the state and the injection of new ideas.
It was reliably gathered from grapevines that Ikenga JohnJude has a lot of good plans for the state which included but not limited to massive infrastructural campaign, rural and urban development, economic recovery, sports, entertainment and tourism invigoration, health, education and agricultural revolution as well as pension and social security services. He has pledged to improve the working conditions of the civil services.
A source who spoke to our reporter on the antecedents of the major candidates said, “Ikenga Okere, has at different fora stated that he knows that in politics, there must be contests. That was why he prepared himself by getting a manifesto that is not only people-oriented but also in line with the wishes, desires and aspirations of Imo people, especially the rural dwellers who have for so long been deprived of basic social amenities that should constitute the dividends of democracy”.
He urged Imo people not to be overwhelmed by fear, harassment and intimidation, but to come out en-masse and cast their votes because that is the only way to ensure that their choice candidate wins the election.
Ikenga assured that with him at the helm of affairs in Imo State, come November, 11, Imo State will be safe again, as he would nip insecurity and attendant challenges in the bud.
He also stated that his government will have a human face, as accountability, due process and rule of law would be given prominence.
